Toitū te marae a Tāne-mahuta, Toitū te marae a Tangaroa, Toitu te iwi’
If the land is well and the sea is well, the people will thrive.
After three years at New Zealand’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in Wellington, I have decided to move back to the consulting sector and have therefore joined Enspire as an Associate Director, and moved to the beautiful Tauranga with my partner, in April 2023. My passion is to contribute to the quality of life of people, especially the most vulnerable, and particularly by protecting the natural environment, that I believe is a fundamental requirement for achieving this.
My environmental management skills are founded on a Masters degree in Geography (Environment and Society) from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and many short courses including the Ministry for the Environment’s Making Good Decisions and the EPA’s Mātauranga framework training. These skills have been recognized by my certification as a General Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP).
Before moving to New Zealand, I was involved in managing and delivering the environmental components on a variety of infrastructure projects in the water, transport and energy sectors in Southern Africa. I was involved in the planning, design, construction and rehabilitation phases of developments during which environmental conditions and best practicable environmental options were incorporated into environmental management requirements and engineering designs, ensuring developments operate cost effectively, in a socially responsible manner and with least impact to the environment.
My family, who live all over the world, is a priority to me, and I am delighted that moving to Tauranga brings me closer to my daughter and sister who live in Auckland.
